Read your real data
Every run, from your watch, automatically. Not a questionnaire you filled in once.
Rutz is an AI running coach app for iPhone. It reads every run from your watch, writes your training plan one week at a time, reviews each session in plain language, and answers your questions with your own data in front of it.
An AI running coach is software that does the job of a human running coach: it looks at your training, decides what you should run next, and explains why. Unlike a static training plan, it responds to what actually happened — the run you cut short, the week you were ill, the long run that went better than expected.
Good AI coaching is two jobs, and they should not be mixed up. The numbers — pace, heart rate, training load, efficiency — must be calculated exactly, in code. The interpretation — what those numbers mean for you, this week — is where AI earns its place. Rutz is built on that split: code does the math, AI interprets the results.
That matters because a language model left alone will happily invent a pace or misread a trend. In Rutz the model never does arithmetic. It is handed computed facts about your running and asked to coach from them.
Checklist
Every run, from your watch, automatically. Not a questionnaire you filled in once.
Next week should be written from last week — not from a calendar fixed months ago.
You should always know why a run is on the plan and what the last one told your coach.
"Should I race on Sunday?" deserves an answer based on your load and recent runs, not a generic article.
Hard limits on how fast your training load can rise, enforced in code, not left to a chatbot's judgement.
An AI coach is not a doctor or a physio. It should say so when a question needs one.
Why Rutz
Most apps hand you a schedule. Rutz hands you a coach that has read every one of your runs.
No 16-week PDF. Rutz builds backwards from your race date, then writes each week from the runs you actually did — not the ones you were supposed to do.
Missed Tuesday? Flying Thursday? Your week reshapes around reality, so one bad day never turns into a broken plan.
Finish a run and your coach tells you what it meant — effort, pacing, fatigue, and what it changes about tomorrow. Tracking isn't coaching. This is.
Garmin, COROS, Suunto, Polar and more. If your watch syncs to Intervals.icu, Rutz can read it. One sign-in connects everything.
Look for one that reads your real run data, rewrites the plan as your training changes, explains its decisions and enforces safe load limits. Rutz is built around those four things. It is an iPhone app in private beta; you can join the waitlist at rutz.pro.
For structure, progression, feedback and day-to-day questions — yes, and it is available at 6 a.m. on a Sunday. It works best when exact calculations are done in code and the AI only interprets them, which is how Rutz is built. For injuries, medical issues or elite-level goals, a human professional is still the right call.
A general chatbot only knows what you type into it. Rutz already has your full run history from your watch, computes your training load and pacing exactly, and keeps a plan that carries on from week to week. You don't have to explain yourself every time.
Yes. Rutz reads the activities your watch syncs to Intervals.icu, including pace, heart rate and elevation, and uses them to review each run and plan the next week.
Yes, provided it limits how fast your training grows. Rutz starts beginners on run-walk intervals and caps week-to-week load increases. If you have a health condition, speak to a doctor before starting any training programme.
Yours. Write to the coach in any language it understands — English and Hebrew included — and it answers in the same language.
