1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Rutz, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Rutz is an AI-powered running coach app that:

  • Reads your workout and health data from Apple Health (HealthKit), with your permission
  • Analyzes your training using composite fitness scores and performance metrics computed in our own code
  • Provides AI-generated coaching insights and recommendations (via Google's Gemini API)
  • Tracks your progress toward your training goals

3. User Accounts

  • An Apple Sign In account is required to use Rutz.
  • Each person may have only one account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

  • Rutz offers a free tier with core features, and Rutz Premium, an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks advanced coaching, deeper analysis, and longer training history.
  • Rutz Premium is offered at $6.99 per month, billed through your Apple App Store account.
  • New subscribers receive a 30-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts to a paid term automatically.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple App Store account settings. Apple's standard refund policy applies; we do not separately process App Store refunds.

5. Acceptable Use

Rutz is intended for personal running and training use only. You agree not to:

  • Use the app for any commercial purpose without permission
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code
  • Interfere with or disrupt the app's servers or infrastructure
  • Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws

6. Disclaimers

Not Medical Advice - Consult a Physician

Rutz is a general fitness and informational tool. It is NOT a medical device and does NOT provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or monitoring. Training plans, readiness and recovery scores, heart-rate zones, and all analyses are for general fitness and informational purposes only and are not a substitute for the advice of a qualified physician or other healthcare professional.

Consult your physician before beginning, changing, or stopping any exercise or training program, and before relying on any guidance from Rutz - especially if you have or suspect a heart, respiratory, metabolic, or other medical condition, are pregnant or postpartum, are taking medication, or have not exercised recently. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or were shown in Rutz.

Listen to your body. Stop exercising immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, shortness of breath beyond normal exertion, dizziness, faintness, irregular heartbeat, or any other concerning symptom. You are solely responsible for deciding whether any activity is safe and appropriate for you.

AI-Generated Content

Rutz's coaching insights, run analyses, summaries, and chat answers are generated by a third-party large language model (Google's Gemini). AI-generated content can be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate for your situation, and may misinterpret your data. It is produced automatically without human review.

You must use your own judgment and must not rely solely on AI-generated content - particularly for any decision that could affect your health, safety, or training load. AI output is a suggestion, not a prescription, and does not replace professional coaching or medical advice. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose of AI-generated content, and you use it at your own risk. Where AI output conflicts with the guidance of a qualified professional, follow the professional.

Data Accuracy

The accuracy of training data depends on your device (Apple Watch or other), its sensors, and the reliability of data synchronization. Rutz is not responsible for inaccurate data from third-party devices or services.

7. Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability

Assumption of Risk

Running and physical exercise carry inherent risks, including muscle and joint injury, cardiac events, heat illness, and, in rare cases, serious injury or death. By using Rutz and acting on any plan, score, or recommendation it provides, you voluntarily and knowingly assume all such risks. You confirm that you are physically able to participate in the activities you choose and that you have consulted a physician to the extent appropriate. You are solely responsible for your training decisions and for exercising within your own limits.

Limitation of Liability

Rutz is provided "as-is" and "as-available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, neither Rutz nor its operator is liable for any injury, health consequence, death, data loss, service interruption, or indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the app or any AI-generated content, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for all claims shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct, or any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.

8. Data and Privacy

Your use of Rutz is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the app, you consent to the collection and use of data as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of Rutz (including but not limited to design, code, text, and graphics) are owned by the operator of Rutz and are protected by intellectual property laws.

10. Account Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time through Settings in the app.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
  • Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict of law principles.
